My Collector's Timepiece: Chronograph Wood Watch
If you spend as much time on social media as I do, then you have seen millennial efforts warning people about the dangers of pollution and overuse non-sustainable resources. While subtle lifestyle changes like recycling and limiting the use of plastic bottles make a difference, going green can mean so much more if you allow it to. As an avid thrifter, I am proud to say that I get the most wear out of (almost) everything I own before throwing it out and buying a new version, and even when I do make new purchases, they aren’t always new as much as they are new to me.
When it comes to going green and making more environmentally friendly purchases, I’ve never considered how the lifestyle change could apply to jewelry, more specifically to timepieces. That was until I was contacted for a collaboration with Jord Watches, which has probably been my favorite thus far. Here’s why:
What draws me in is the fact that the brand is filled with artists and designers that take the time to come up with the ideas, and then handcraft them. When you first hear the term ‘wooden watch’, you may only be able to imagine limited options. Jord dismisses this assumption by featuring a wide array of wooden watches for men and women, that vary in style, size, color, and luxury.
The name ‘Jord’ is a Norse translation of the word ‘Earth’, which is fitting due to the brands focus on combining aspects of nature with modern themes. The Conway itself is a Men’s chronograph watch that is unique enough to catch examining eyes, yet timeless enough be considered a collectors timepiece. Every second counts, and this model accounts for that by featuring sub-dials that display seconds, hours, and a stopwatch. There is a date of month aperture, and even a ‘55’ second pronounced dial to make the stopwatch feature easier to use.
One of the things I love most about the Conway specifically, is that it’s hard to miss. People immediately notice it and it serves as a great conversation starter. Aside from what I’ve already mentioned, other notable features of the watch are:
Screw down crown
Cross-hatched bezel and band
Stainless steel accents intertwined with wood
Luminescent hands
Quarts movement
Custom professional sizing
Cedar watch box
Optional engraving
The pop of orange on the second hand and ‘55’ fit right in with my style, and I am excited to continue my style journey with Jord. Now that I’ve filled you all in, here comes the exciting part… we are doing a GIVEAWAY! Here are the details:
