Enjoying the In-between

Enjoying the In-between

I define the in-between as the gap of time that comes after you have just accomplished something, and before you have figured out what to do next. If your recent accomplishment has been something monumental or made public, then all eyes are most likely on you. Everyone wants to see the sequel, the part II. The conversations are filled with, “Now what?” or “So what’s next for you?” and just may drive your anxiety crazy, if you are still figuring out your next move.

I could deliver the cliche monologue of going at your own pace, and ignoring others expectations of how your life should go, but the truth is that sometimes that’s hard to do. Sometimes those comments get to you, and those questions sting. I want remind you that the ‘in-between’ is a part of your journey in itself, meaning that it has it’s own lessons that are to be learned and applied, not skipped over.

I spent a bit of my in-between in Miami recently, and left feeling bronzed, encouraged, and inspired. If you follow me on Instagram then you may have noticed my recent obsession with monochrome looks. This one happens to be purchased entirely from the goodwill, and worked well as a last minute beach ensemble.

Not to be confused with being lazy, the in-between often comes when you need it the most. Maybe it’s time to try something completely different. What do you want to get out of your next experience, and how are you going to apply the things that the last experience taught you? I am not ashamed to say that I am currently in the midst of my in-between. Each day I’m learning more about myself and the skills that I’ve acquired, so that in this upcoming chapter I am well prepared. I’m also taking time to enjoy the change of pace, and reflect over what I’ve accomplished thus far. In other words, I’m taking the time to be proud of me and the things that I’ve done. When’s the last time you did the same?

I’ll leave you with this:

The beginning comes before the middle,

and the middle before the end,

enjoy each as they come to pass,

because they won’t come again.
