Let's Toast To: Living in the Meantime

Let's Toast To: Living in the Meantime

Lately, it seems that many people (myself included) are pestering themselves with questions in regards to what their future will hold.  From career goals in our professional lives, to creative side passions we hope will become our sole focus, it's easy to wonder....

When will all of my hard work pay off?

Whenever I discuss my goals and dreams with people, and how I feel like I've barely scratched the surface, many of them respond with proclamations about how I'm only 21.  To the outside and sometimes older mind, it's as if I have nothing to worry about because I have all the time in the world...right?

All white, without a grass stain in sight!

All white, without a grass stain in sight!

To me, it sometimes feels as if time is running out!  And when I begin to consider my 5 year plan and all the things I want to accomplish, it can be so overwhelming that I forget to savor each moment, and appreciate each lesson learned.  After talking to my close friends, I've concluded that this feeling of having a 'timeline on our dreams' is rather common.  All the time in the world can sometimes seem like no time at all, but whether or not I am accomplishing everything I want to, when I want to, I have decided that I will still live in the meantime.

The last thing I want is to look up one day when I have reached my destination, and have nothing to show for the journey it took to get there.

Sometimes it takes a day in the park (and a glass of Rosé) to clear your mind and come to a new conclusion.  I took a day to toast with a very dear friend of mine to living in the meantime!  A toast to still having fun, making memories, and making the journey just as fun as the destination.  I urge all of you to continue working towards your dreams and goals, but to also have some much needed fun along the way.
