Millennial on the Move: Just the Essentials

Millennial on the Move: Just the Essentials

Traveling around London requires so much walking, and as a student, tourist, & blogger sometimes everything I need doesn't conveniently fit in my pockets.  When you consider a passport, wallet, camera, journal, & map... a sturdy and stylish bag definitely comes in handy.

The key with a bag is versatility.  We all love a statement piece but the truth is that if you plan to carry it often, you want it to match with virtually everything in your closet.  When out and about for lengthy amounts of time I usually…

The key with a bag is versatility.  We all love a statement piece but the truth is that if you plan to carry it often, you want it to match with virtually everything in your closet.  When out and about for lengthy amounts of time I usually opt for a classic black bag.  The one pictured above is by Bobby Black.

My Essentials:

  1. Travel Book - As much as this gives away my identity as a tourist, I don't really care!  A city guide will tell you all the basics.  If you're like me, seeing a picture makes a difference, but an explanation of a landmark or site is sometimes much more informative.  A city guide has both!
  2. Passport - Although you only need it to get in the country you are staying in.  I feel most comfortable when I have mine with me at all times.  It serves as proof of identity, and you never know when you'll be questioned.
  3. Phone - You need your phone, and before leaving the U.S. you want to call your service provider to make sure your service will still work outside of the country.  Mine didn't, so I purchased a local sim card when I got to London.  Doing this is sometimes much more economical than paying for international coverage through your U.S. service provider.
  4. Journal - Some may think it's old fashioned, but I like to have a journal with me at all times.  You never know where you may end up feeling inspired.  I like to jot down notes and ideas as they come to mind, so a journal is a must have!
  5. Camera - I love to capture life's most memorable moments through a lens.  Whether it be my phone or a camera, taking pictures is an excellent way to make memories last a lifetime.  Since my DSLR is a bit on the heavy side, the Canon Power Shot G7 X Mark II is the perfect size and weight to carry around with you during your travels!

The crew neck doesn't technically qualify as an essential, but since this is a fashion and lifestyle blog, I had to include something that's stylish and wearable.  I proudly rep my hometown of Dayton, OH, as well as my current city of Indianapolis, so it only makes sense to proudly rep the city that I will be spending half a year in.

TIP: When traveling, make sure to check out the cities flea markets to find affordable paraphernalia and other unique items.
