Spontaneity and Style: Sometimes Random Works
With intrigued expressions, people always ask me if I plan out my outfits, or if I wake up everyday knowing exactly what I want to wear. It's always funny to see their faces twist up with surprise when I respond by saying, "I don't."
Most days I wake up and have no idea what I want to wear, and when I buy an article of clothing, it sits in my closet for months sometimes before I actually decide to rock it. For me, spontaneity and style go hand and hand. Sometimes my best looks come from the days when I have to change my outfit two or three times before I walk out the door.
This look for example was built off of the shorts. No matter what I ended up wearing I knew I wanted to wear these shorts, and carry a bag besides my everyday backpack. I'm obsessed with plaid and the color red, so the Izod cardigan and Ralph Lauren button up just seemed to mesh.
I threw in the thrifted red suspenders and grabbed by one of my favorite bags from asos, and boom. I looked in my mirror and gave myself a little wink of satisfaction. My intention to wear the navy H&M shorts ended up developing into an entire clueless themed look, that fit perfectly with my mood.
What you should take away from this post is that if you wake up with no idea of what to wear, you just might be in luck. Grab those pants or that shirt that you never touch, and work with it. Mix and match and don't be afraid to step outside of your comfort zone.
You won't regret it.
