Getting Re-Inspired, and Back on Track!
Happy (almost) Christmas everyone! I know it’s been a little while since you’ve last heard from me. To be transparent, I have struggled to find inspiration and things to write about. Between a very strenuous semester and the overarching anxiety that looms with the idea of graduation being 5-ish months away, it’s been difficult for me to create content that I feel is beneficial for both my audience (you all) and myself. I never want to compromise quality just for the sake of content, which is why I have waited all these weeks before updating my blog. With that being said, I have begun to adapt a new algorithm for finding inspiration and keeping my creative juices flowing.
The method entails being astute and observant of your surroundings. Taking everything in as it comes, filtering what’s good and bad, useful and un-useful, and finding meaning in the material you decide to keep. This means listening closely to those songs on the radio that you usually just let play while you get ready for work. Taking a closer look at the art you pass by every day, or reading the first chapter of that new book you bought months ago. In my opinion it’s rather easy to be inspired in a large city, with a very diverse setting. Environments such as these breed creativity and original ideas that can be expound upon. This aside, in more enclosed and slow paced environments, it may take a little more effort and focus to find daily inspiration.
If you pay attention, there are so many parts of your daily routine that can be the spark to ignite new content. This doesn’t dismiss those periods of time where you will inevitably struggle to find new influences, because those moments may still occur. However, maybe we have the power to make sure those blocks of time are few and far in between, by looking for unconventional ways to be inspired.
